Life on the ranch

In 2021, we bought a ranch and moved 200 miles, which kind of disrupted my blog.

During the pandemic, the family began exploring the idea of expanding our goat business and we decided to sell our place near Snook and go! We found what we were looking for in Eastland County, just north of Texas 36, and south of Highway 6. Our original farm was also between these two highways, but a couple hundred miles southeast! Yes, moving was a logistical challenge, but I'll detail that more in the future.

Today, we have increased our herd to 137 goats, with over 90 expecting kids this season. Kidding begins in early December, so the number of goats will increase by at least 150, but probably more. I am thinking a little lower since we have 28 first fresheners! Wow!

So far, we survived a enormous wildfire, two years of drought, depleted pastures and a tornado. So things are looking up! Today is a great day in the Texas Big Country!
